"New Zealand is a beautiful place, very lush and green, especially when compared to the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. We loved the South Island in particular. It is hard to single out experiences as favorites, but if pressed, all would choose the trip to Karamea, where we hiked though a cave to see sub-fossils and stayed at the Karamea Beachfront Farmstay with a lovely couple that spoiled us with the absolute BEST homemade shortbread. Actually, all of the food we ate at the farm was the best of the trip."
Farm
We are third generation on the land with the next generation also involved, milking 460 mainly friesian cows. Over the last few years we have been increasing the pasture area with some interesting land development. We have 2 friendly farm dogs, Joe and Sam, horses and Harry the 23yr old Blackback Seagull who flies in every morning to be fed.
We also own the secluded Blueduck Valley, 600 acres total area, 300 acres in Native forest. The valley is 8kms long with a clear stony river running through it surrounded by rimu and Beech trees. Here we graze elk and the young dairy stock. The Blueduck Valley was settled by Russell’s Grandfather in the early 1900’s.
